Environment

Netmail Archive 5.x

Synopsis

The CAS servers have their own attachment limits that are likely to be exceeded during an injection job. By default, a CAS server will accept email that has a combined attachment size of less then 13.6MB. If the attachment limit is hit during injection, an error of the type: (507) insufficient storage will be generated.

Solution

To modify the combined attachment limit, edit the following files:

1) On the CAS Servers

For EWS, edit the following file:

c:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V14\ClientAccess\exchweb\ews\web.config

In the web.config file, locate the following:

maxAllowedContentLength
maxReceivedMessageSize

Their values are likely set to 13600000 bytes (by default). Increasing these values should increase the maximum request size:

For example:
maxAllowedContentLength=33600000
maxReceivedMessageSize=33600000 (there may be several instances of this in the file)

Save the file after editing.

2) Open a DOS prompt and cd to c:\windows\system32\inetsrv

3) Once in the inetsrv directory, run the following command:

appcmd set config "Default Web Site/ews" -section:requestFiltering -requestLimits.maxAllowedContentLength:33600000

4) Restart IIS (command is iisreset).
