Environment

Netmail Archive 5.x

Synopsis

This article will illustrate how to increase the logging during indexing for troubleshooting archive-to-index server issues.

Solution

In order to enable additional logging, you will need to edit the following file:

Program Files (x86)>Messaging Architects>Config>MaPushApi_Config.xml

The following is an example of an unmodified file:

  <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?>
- <MaPushApiConfig>
  - <IgnoreFiles>
      <File>Mime.822</File>
      <File>.vcf</File>
      <File>part.001</File>
      <File>part.002</File>
      <File>part.003</File>
      <File>TEXT.htm</File>
      <File>.trc</File>
      <File>.log</File>
      <File>trace.htm</File>
      <File>trace.html</File>
      <File>trace.xml</File>
      <File>summary.xml</File>
  </IgnoreFiles>
  </MaPushApiConfig>

You will need to add the following to the code above the line last line (</MaPushApiConfig>):

<File>trace.xml</File>
<File>summary.xml</File>
</IgnoreFiles>
<TraceLevel>Debug</TraceLevel>

The completed file will look a bit like this:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?>
- <MaPushApiConfig>
  - <IgnoreFiles>
      <File>Mime.822</File>
      <File>.vcf</File>
      <File>part.001</File>
      <File>part.002</File>
      <File>part.003</File>
      <File>TEXT.htm</File>
      <File>.trc</File>
      <File>.log</File>
      <File>trace.htm</File>
      <File>trace.html</File>
      <File>trace.xml</File>
      <File>summary.xml</File>
      <File>trace.xml</File>
      <File>summary.xml</File>
  </IgnoreFiles>
      <TraceLevel>Debug</TraceLevel>
  </MaPushApiConfig>

You will want to stop Netmail Archive services before editing the file and then restart these services after you have completed and saved the changes.

This will create a PUSHAPI.trc file in the trace directory (C:\Program Files\Messaging Architects\Trace\x-x-xxxx).
