Netmail Search 6.x

Synopsis

Netmail Search is a web-based application running on the Jetty web server.  Since this is an end-user portal, the URL is accessible throughout the organization and potentially externally as well.  Savvy users will discover the /css or /images virtual directories which can also be browsed at that URL.  Although it's not sensitive information (and read-only) some administrators prefer it not be visible.  This article explains how to prevent end-users from browsing these directories.

Solution

On the Netmail Search server, navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Messaging Architects\RemoteProvider\WebContent\css

Create a new file called index.html with the following text inside:  <meta http-equiv="refresh" content="0; url=http://my.url.com/">

Repeat for the ..\WebContent\images folder.

Now when attempting to reach these virtual directories with a web browser, the user will be automatically redirected to the URL of your choice.
