Netmail Archive 6.x
Netmail discourages the use of anti-virus software on the Netmail Archive platform. The use of such software can interfere with Netmail Archive’s normal operations leading to job errors, failures, and (potentially) data loss. Problems will arise if items are quarantined/deleted during job execution, and the scanning of files greatly impacts performance of the system. All mail messages & attachments should have been already scanned once at the gateway (if coming from the internet), and they will be scanned again by the desktop anti-virus agents when users access items in their archives.
Avoid installing anti-virus software on application or storage servers used by the Netmail Archive platform (if at all possible). If installation is mandated by company policy, do not install it until after installing and validating Archive components.
If anti-virus software is installed, the following folders should be excluded from scanning:
Archive application folder: C:\Program Files (x86)\Messaging Architects.
Archive Temp directories: these are configured in the administration GUI on each node listed under the Nodes section (usually C:\TEMP)
Archive Data and Attachment data stores, Case Management device, and Audit path: these are configured in the GUI under Cluster > Storage.
PostgreSQL application directory: C:\Program Files\PostgreSQL
Note Drive letters should be validated and it is assumed the anti-virus exclusion includes sub-directories. Also if the data and attachments are in different locations then add both into the exclusions.
|Even with exclusions set or the anti-virus software set to disabled, such software can still interfere with Netmail Archive operations during and after archiving.|
